Pasifika Research

Underserved communities

The Pasifika community in Aotearoa NZ continues to grow in its diversity and multi-ethnic identity.  In addition, ongoing work continues to explore the impact of social science and its relevance within a Pasifika context.  Our initial research looks at Pasifika worldviews alongside the world of psychology, psychotherapy and counselling.  There has been a focus on addressing the intersectionality among Pasifika and the Justice system though more research continues to increase Pasifika research in Aotearoa NZ and abroad.

Current status

We are currently seeking funding opportunities to explore and understand the needs and strengths of Pasifika communities across the sector.

Community relationships

We hold key strategic and advisory relationships across government and non-government organisations.  We also prioritise the voice(s) of Pasifika community so that research is a partnered approach led by Pasifika, with Pasifika and by Pasifika.
